Over the course of nearly a decade, Mark J. Holterman, MD, has treated patients in his role as attending pediatric surgeon at Advocate Christ Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Hospital of Illinois. Board-certified in both general and pediatric surgery, he has held the same position at a number of hospitals, including the Mount Sinai Medical Center and Cook County Hospital. Mark J. Holterman, MD, complements his hospital work with his responsibilities as professor of surgery and pediatrics at the University of Illinois College of Medicine.
Outside of his hospital and university work, Dr. Holterman is an experienced medical researcher who has focused his work on such areas as autoimmunity and regenerative medicine. He has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed articles on topics ranging from alternatives gastric bypass surgical methods to preventative measures against thyroid autoimmunity. Throughout his career, Dr. Holterman has also shared his research findings during presentations at conferences across the globe.
An active member in his field, Dr. Mark J. Holterman serves on the program committee with the Pacific Association of Pediatric Surgeon. He also offers his editorial expertise to several medical websites and journals, including theVisualMC.com and the Journal of Pediatric Surgery.
