Mark Holterman, MD, teaches courses in pediatrics and surgery at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. Alongside his work as an educator, Dr. Mark Holterman supports charitable medical work around the world, including work through the International Pediatric Specialists Alliance for the Children of Vietnam (IPSAC-VN), an organization he helped create.

The IPSAC-VN is a volunteer organization focused on improving pediatric surgery in Vietnam through education, training, and partnerships with local physicians. The organization routinely conducts physician exchange programs, allowing Vietnamese professionals to learn from their colleagues around the world.

Physicians with the IPSAC-VN recently completed the first mission of 2017. From March 6-10, volunteers participated in exchanges at hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City, Danang, Kon Tum, and Can Tho. These exchanges targeted improvement in patient care and program development as well as general workforce improvement.
